Membership Committee

Membership Committee Charge:  This committee is responsible for maintaining and increasing Organization membership by actively identifying and contacting potential members.

2009 Goals and Objectives:

  1. Encourage membership and potential new members to attend the annual meeting.
    1. Contact members/co-workers to encourage participation.
    2. Regional contacts forward meeting announcement to contacts from their respective region.
  2. Travel Grants.
    1. Determine the number of grants available.
    2. Seek applications.
    3. Award grants.
  3. Establish and Maintain active Regional Contacts.
    1. Regional contacts create and maintain a comprehensive list of contacts by region, stored on the portal for annual use
    2. Serve as first point of contact for OFWIM members within their respective region.
  4. Encourage non-members attending the annual meeting to join OFWIM.
    1. Include a Benefits of Membership information page with all non-member registration receipts. Information page would invite them to join the organization and educate them on the benefits of membership.
  5. Maintain individual membership renewals from previous year to current year.
    1. Send a reminder email to the membership at the beginning of the year to encourage members to renew their memberships for the current year.
  6. Support members willing to do outreach at local/regional/national meetings on behalf of OFWIM.
    1. Provide the member with OFIWM poster and brochures.
  7. Conduct a focused membership drive every 3-years to increase Organizational Memberships and pick up new potential members that may have joined organizations within the last 3-years.
    1. Targeting specific organizations that have not been organizational members in the past to become Organizational Members. These include state fish and wildlife agencies, federal agencies, and NGOs.
    2. Send out letters and brochure to appropriate contacts across the nation.
    3. Regional Outreach members will make follow-up phone calls.
